Guided by Charlotte Mason's timeless education principles, Huckleberry Academy is an education experience like none other. Our short days create the perfect hybrid school model for families who find themselves between homeschool and traditional schools. We offer a full curriculum for your 1st-8th graders, with minimal homework (they only take home work they weren't able to complete at school), giving you the freedom to pursue their special interests at home in a way that best fits your family and schedule.
At Huckleberry, your kids will have the opportunity for hands on learning on our farm, along with traditional subjects, such as Bible, Math, Grammar, Literature, History, Science, Geography, and more. Our curriculum puts great emphasis on healthy relationships through carefully chosen books and stories. We put a lot of effort into carefully guiding your child towards self-education by showing them the joy of beautiful ideas found in quality art and literature.

We spread and abundant and delicate feast in the programs and each small guest assimilates what he can. Charlotte Mason
We offer a 'round the table family learning style with multiple grades together in one room. Our teachers are trained in the Charlotte Mason method, and offer a daily feast for growing brains. We ask that our families also share mental food at home by taking time to read to their children or listen to them read several times a week. Education is a joint venture between Huckleberry and our families. If you're child is learning to read, for example, we can help them advance, but mastery will only come with practice at home as well.
1st grade students
Please note that we do not accept students under 6 years of age. Children beginning 1st grade must know all their letters and sounds, be able to read 3-4 letter words, be able to recognize and count numbers up to 50, and follow instructions quickly. Because our education includes time with animals, it is imperative that our students can obey commands quickly and without question, for the safety of themselves, others, and our animals.
Our applications are processed on a case-by-case basis, not first come, first serve. We do not keep a waitlist. Application for the 26/27 school year opens March 1st, 2026.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. We are happy to schedule a meeting and give you a tour of the school as well.
